The Nithyam Noor is a handcrafted perpetual calendar carrying Hindi in Devanagari script, made in our studio in Karamadai, Coimbatore. The day names, month names, and every character on this board are in Devanagari, one of the most widely used scripts in the world, rendered here at the size and quality the script deserves.
Noor is an Arabic word meaning light, carried into Hindi and Urdu through centuries of shared linguistic history. It is one of the most widely known and deeply felt words for light across North India. We chose it for the Hindi Edition because every morning begins with light, and because the word itself carries warmth in a way that a purely descriptive word does not.
Devanagari is the script of Sanskrit, of Hindi, of Marathi, of the oldest sacred texts in human civilization. Getting it right on a 40mm wooden disc required careful attention to the horizontal top line (the shirorekha) that connects Devanagari characters, and to the vowel markers that sit above and below the base characters. The Noor Edition was developed with a Hindi reader throughout. Nothing was approximated. The script reads correctly because we ensured it did.

Hindi is India's most widely spoken language, with over 500 million speakers. Devanagari is the script of Hindi, Marathi, Sanskrit, Nepali, and several other languages. It is one of the most recognised and widely read scripts in the world.
The day abbreviations on the Noor edition are rendered in Devanagari: र, सो, मं, बु, गु, शु, श for Sunday through Saturday. The months are in their Hindi forms: ज, फ, मा, अप्र, अग, सि, अक्, न, दि for the months that require disambiguation. April (अप्र), August (अग), and October (अक्) use two or three character abbreviations to distinguish them from each other, because all three begin with the same base character in standard single-character form.
The dates are in standard Arabic numerals.
The Noor Edition is for the Hindi speaker in Delhi, in Mumbai, in Lucknow, in Jaipur, and everywhere else in the world where Hindi is the language of home and morning.

How It Works

Exchanges
- We do not offer exchanges between editions once production has begun

- The Origin edition cannot be returned or exchanged once production has begun due to its personalised and limited nature
- If your Origin edition arrives damaged, we will replace it as a priority
