The Nithyam Pratham is a handcrafted perpetual calendar in English, made in our studio in Karamadai, Coimbatore. It is the edition for the home that values the object itself as much as the language it carries. Clean Roman script, minimal letterforms, five carefully considered colour options. It is the calendar that belongs in any room, on any wall, in any city.
Pratham means first. In Sanskrit, the word carries the sense of the first act, the first moment, the first of something. Every morning you move three markers and the day begins. Pratham is named for that moment.
The English Edition uses the same board, the same marker mechanism, and the same standard of craft as every edition in the Nithyam collection. What makes it different is who it is for. It is for the buyer who wants the object more than the cultural identifier. For the home with mixed language backgrounds. For the person who simply wants something on their wall that is permanent, considered, and made to last.

The Pratham is the edition without a specific language identity, which makes it the edition with the broadest identity. It is for homes where more than one language is spoken. It is for people who want to give a Nithyam calendar as a gift without knowing the recipient's mother tongue. The English Edition uses clean, considered Roman letterforms sized and spaced for legibility at reading distance on a 40mm disc. The day abbreviations are Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat. The months are Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec. The dates are in standard Arabic numerals. Nothing is fussy. Everything reads clearly from across a room.

The Nithyam Pratham is a wall-mounted perpetual calendar. It holds rows of circular disc markers, one row for the day of the week, one for the date, and one for the month. Each morning you move three markers. The calendar never expires. One purchase. No replacements. No refills. No subscription. It works the same way on the first day of any year, for every year.
It has no battery, no digital component, and no yearly replacement. It requires a wall and five seconds each morning. Nothing else.
Materials and Finish
- Board: Medium density fibreboard with a premium colour-matched veneer finish. Stable across Indian humidity conditions. Does not warp or crack over time.
- Markers: Solid wood discs, hand-turned on a lathe in our Karamadai workshop. Sanded through four grit levels. Two-coat paint finish, individually inspected.
- Finish: Matte lacquer throughout. Chosen for durability under daily handling.
- Highlight ring: Turned separately to a higher tolerance. Moves smoothly. Sits flush without wobbling.

How It Works
Every morning, move three markers. Day advances one position. Date advances one position. Month advances only on the first day of a new month. The highlight ring sits in position. The markers rotate through it. Five seconds. The ritual is complete.
Available Colours

Care Instructions
Wipe with a slightly damp soft cloth when needed. No chemical cleaners. No abrasives. Do not mount in extended direct sunlight. Contact us before attempting any repairs to loose markers.

If Your Calendar Arrives Damaged

- We will arrange a replacement at no cost to you, immediately
If a Component Is Missing
- Contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number
- We will dispatch the missing component by the next working day
Change of Mind
- We are unable to accept returns for change of mind - each calendar is made to order specifically for you

Exchanges
- We do not offer exchanges between editions once production has begun
- Please review your selection carefully before checkout
For the Origin Special Edition
- The Origin edition cannot be returned or exchanged once production has begun due to its personalised and limited nature
- If your Origin edition arrives damaged, we will replace it as a priority
